Tonight my wife and I walked 6 miles. This begins my every two week back-to- back training days for the Goofy Challenge in January, where I will run the half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday. Tomorrow morning, I am going to follow this up with a 13 mile run. I think I am more sore from this walk than running 6 miles! Goal for tomorrow is to make it to the ice bath afterward!
Good luck this weekend to all my fellow ROTErs as they run the Disneyland Half Marathon!
This evening I did a 5 mile run at an 8:57mm pace. I felt pretty good on the run.
Tomorrow I begin two-a-day training for the Goofy Challenge and a half. I will do 6 miles tomorrow night at a real slow pace, and then turn around Saturday morning and run 13 miles.
8 days until our cruise on the Disney Fantasy!
Well I had started the day hoping to run outside this evening. Then to repeat a favorite line from the original “Living Seas” movie from the ride. Then the rains came…and it rained….and rained…and rained. Well you get the picture. For those that do not know, Charleston, Sc is below sea level. So when it rains this much, mixed with the tides. By lunch time today, it was knee deep on most streets.
So I was relegated to the treadmill tonight, but worked on some hill intervals and speed, and did 4 miles at an 8:56mm pace.
Next up: 5 miles on Thursday!
10 days until our 7-day cruise on the Disney Fantasy!!
This morning, will reviewing my daily ROTE forum posts I saw that Disney has the link out to print our waivers for the Disney Tower of Terror 10-Miler race on Sept. 29th. My fellow ROTERs usually get this information 3-5 days before RunDisney ever publishes or notifies us about this information. This is such an awesome group to be apart of if you like Disney and Running.
So I am bib #927 for this Tower of Terror 10-Miler! Under the #1000 mark, I guess I submitted a decent time for qualifying! I cannot recall how many are running the race, 5000-7500 if I recall!
Also this is a momentous occasion as my wife Jennifer is going to do her first 5k at this race weekend. We are still awaiting her bib number, but mine for this race will be #1167. We will do this race the morning of the 29th and I will do the 10-miler that night.
I am so looking forward to this race, and the theming!
This morning I ran 5 miles in downtown Charleston. I ran with Tasha Ruth and we maintained a 9:19mm pace. It was a beautiful morning, starting out around 66 degrees. If felt so good out this morning. Once I finished the run I headed over to the SC Aquarium and joined my scuba diving team for a day of work in the Great Ocean Tank.
Next run: Tuesday Night for 4 Miles with my wife and dogs
Today at lunch, as I walked to the MUSC Wellness Center to run on the treadmill (10 minute walk), I realized what a beautiful day it was outside, so I decided to run outside in Historic Downtown Charleston. This was much more exciting than the treadmill. There was a plethora of tourists out and about. It felt more of an obstacle course run more than anything. However, my first mile pace was around 7:15mm, then I tapered off a little on the last 3 miles, but still maintained an overall 8:24mm pace. Great run today.
I will be running 5 miles in the morning in the same area with my friend Tasha Ruth, the go do my scuba diving responsibilities at the SC Aquarium. Busy day ahead.
Today I did a 4 mile treadmill run at the MUSC Wellness Center. It was just a standard run, uneventful. Just maintaining the course of the training plan, logging the miles.
The scariest moment is always just before you start.
Today I ran 11 miles at a 9:46mm pace. I ran inn the Wescott Plantation subdivision area. I ran the first 3 miles with my running buddy Maribel Scott. We had to keep those slow for her as she has been down with a condition for the past 8 weeks. That was good though, as we were able to catch up. After 3 she turned back and I continued on for another 8 miles. It is still warm here in the mornings, at 6am it was already in the mid 70s and 85% humidity. I sure will be glad we cooler weather starts to move in. All in all it was a good run today.
Tonight I did my normal fartlek treadmill run, which I lay out below if you are interested. I increased the top end speed to 8.2 mph from 8.0 mph last week.
Warmup – 5 Minutes @ 3.5mph @ 7% Incline
1 Mile @ 6mph @ 1% incline
Repeat the following for 30 minutes:
3 Minutes @ 5.5mph 0% Incline
30 seconds @ 8.2mph 0% Incline
1 Mile @ 6mph @ 1% incline
Cooldown – 10 minute walk with the dogs in the neighborhood
Next Run: 11 Mile Run with Becky on Saturday…
