Today my wife and I ran this race. It was a great run through the woods area of ESPN Wide World of Sports. We were entertained by two country hillbillies on the microphone, they we hilarious! There were 5 corrals, A-E, we were in C. We started the race about 7am and ran around some of the ball fields before we turned and ran through the woods for about a 1.5 miles. There were various scenes set up like the Pirate ship, flying bugs, characters, etc. After this we popped back out on the running tracks and ran around it, where the Haunted Mansion grave diggers were ghouling around. We then ran around a few more ball fields on to the finish line.

After the race they provided water, Poweraid, bananas, and a box full of various healthy snacks.
It was a great warmup for my 10-Miler Twilight Zone Tower of Terror race this evening. Until then, signing off to go to the Parks.
Today I did a 4 mile run on the treadmill at the gym. I did a little tapering before the Tower of Terror 10-Miler this weekend. My pace was around 10:18mm.
Next up: 5 Miles on Thursday, then the race.
This week I am suffering from lag on the blog after being on the cruise ship for a week. I did get in 3 runs this week, for a total of 15.53 miles this week. Since I am behind in blogging, I will list them all here.
Saturday (9/22) – 6.5 Mile Run Downtown Charleston
Thursday (9/20) – 5 Miles on the treadmill
Tuesday (9/18) – 4 Miles on the treadmill
Now I am just 1 week away from my next race. Next weekend will be the Disney Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler. I cannot wait to run this inaugural race, with a Disney Villains party to follow!
Last Friday during our cruise on the Disney Fantasy, my wife and I had the chance to run the Castaway Cay 5K on Disney’s private island of Castaway Cay.
Above is the data/map from my Garmin. This was my wife’s first 5k so we took it pretty slow (42:55), but she finished and that was awesome.
It was a nice run; however, we did not get off the ship and start the run until around 10am. In Caribbean time that equals HOT!

Tonight I did a 4 mile run on the treadmill at a 9:07mm pace. Over the weekend I finally got my iFit Live Google Maps Wireless Adapter to work in my treadmill. I mapped out a 4 mile course around Disney from the Contemporary Resort around to Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Transportation Center, and finished back up at the Contemporary Resort. It dumped the telemetry to the treadmill, and you can set up the laptop in front and watch your course you plotted in front of you. It was really great.
This morning (6am) I did a 13.1 mile run at a 9:31mm pace for 2:04. I ran the first 3 miles with my friend Maribel Scott at a 10:30mm pace. She then turned back, and I continued on for the remainder. It felt really good. I got a feeling I am going to be able to crush 2 hours in the next half marathon if I am doing this in training run.
As for fueling, about an hour before the run I toasted a slice of whole wheat bread and spread some peanut butter on it, along with some Gatorade. About 15 minutes before the run, I had a GU Gel. This worked great, so I am going to continue on with this. During the run, I had GU Gels (3x) at miles 4, 8, & 12. This too worked well. About mile 11 I did start to tire, and ran out of water. I had froze my water bottle overnight, and this was awesome. It started to thaw just in time for the first GU! But ran out about mile 11, so I am going to have to adjust this in future long runs. Once I got back to Maribel’s house, she had me a Powerade Zero and a banana and that was an awesome completion fuel.
After the run I did an ice bath for 15 minutes, and then had some oatmeal & Gatorade.
This time next week, two words: DISNEY FANTASY!
