Yesterday was the first day of March, and hopefully the front door to spring time weather. It certainly did not feel too spring-like during this morning’s 7-mile run, as it was 36 degrees. I have 2 half marathons planned for the month of March. Both of these races will be run alone, so I will have to find the self motivation to push through them!
On Sunday, March 10th I am going to travel two hours to the town of Bluffton, SC to the Palmetto Bluff community to do the inaugural Palmetto Bluff Half Marathon. It is a small race at 1000 runners. It is also a fast and flat course, so my goal for the race is to break the 1 hours 50 minute barrier. My current half marathon PR is 1:52:52, so anything under this would be satisfying.
My second half marathon of March, will be on Sunday, March 24th in Charlotte, NC. I am going to run the North Carolina Half Marathon. I wanted to run this race in 2012; however, a church obligation prevented this. This race has one of the coolest medals, with LED lights and moving cars. As a NASCAR fan, I am excited for this race as we will run around the Charlotte Motor Speedway as a part of the course. This race will go toward by 50 by 50 Challenge, and will allow me to mark North Carolina off my lists to complete!
This should be an exciting month of races. Once March is done, the races will subside, and training will ramp up until the Fall, when I have a heavy load ahead, with 4 halfs between October and December.
