Strange question? I thought so myself. I was talking with my chiropractic massage therapist Shannon Jenkins of Family First Chiropractic yesterday, and she said there are better times than others, to eat your fruits of the day.
I found an article to corroborate what we discussed.
Here are some interesting recaps of our conversation yesterday. Fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach. Either eat it first thing in the morning, or midday or mid-afternoon, between meals. If we eat our fruits with our three or more large meals, it just gets mixed in with it all, and you do not get the nutritional value if eaten alone because of the digestive process. I also gathered from the above article, that you shoud avoid eating fruit close to bedtime as there’s plenty of sugar in fruit to spike up your energy and keep you up when you need your sleep.
That all being said, our division at work will begin a 10 week Biggest Loser competition today. I was hesitant to start it as I have already lost 13 pounds since returning from the Disney Marathon in January, but thought I would do it just for the motivation and share in the experience with coworkers. However, it is a great day for a starting weigh in, as I have a half marathon this weekend, and have done a little carb-loading, so my weight is up a little today. He He He Our Secret! So I will start tracking again on Monday after my race.
Look for my North Carolina Half Marathon race report on either Sunday afternoon or Monday.
