This was a rough week. I got all my runs in, but no strength training. I am really hitting hill training hard now to prepare for the Nashville Half Marathon next month. That is tough in Charleston, considering a speed bump in the street is a hill for us.
Monday (3/3): I ran 4.5 miles on the treadmill at the gym. I continued my hill training to prepare for the Nashville Half Marathon in April. Here was my plan for this run, with everything at 6.1 mph:
2 minutes – 0% incline
15 minutes – 5% incline
10 minutes – 1% incline
10 minutes – 5% incline
2 minutes – -3% decline
2 minutes – -2% decline
2 minutes – -1% decline
Tuesday (3/4): No workout
Wednesday (3/5): I ran with my MUSC running group for 4.35 miles. It was supposed to be a 4 miler, and we got turned around at 5:45am thus adding a little more mileage. We had a record attendance at 11 runners!!!
Thursday (3/6): No workout
Friday (3/7): No workout
Saturday (3/8): I ran 10.25 miles with Luke & Rachel. We started in Mt. Pleasant and ran over the Arthur Ravenel Bridge out to the The Battery and back. The bridge gave me some hill training in preparation for the Nashville Half Marathon in April. Along the way, we passed my running friend, Amy, better known as “The Tiny Terror”. After we got back, we met up with Tasha, and she and Rachel ran another 6 miles. Rachel is training for the Raleigh (NC) Marathon next month.
2014 Yearly Running Goal: 900 Miles
Weekly Mileage: 19.10 Miles
Remaining to Goal: 754.24 Miles
Great seeing you out on the bridge this morning and meeting your friends! Mine was 6.3… just did the bridge and back. Will prolly go longer tomorrow.
Good luck running in Nashville, I think the bridge is always good prep for any run, even the flat ones. You could always try doing repeats on it to get some more hills in, I have some friends who are doing that to prepare for hilly races.
Good to see you this morning! We got 10.35 miles total.
