This was a better week with the ITBS issue. Each run progressively got better, and it helped seeing our chiropractor & massage therapist on Thursday.
Monday (4/7): Ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym, did some short burst of hills up to a 2% incline, maxed at 6.2 mph – it was a good run, still ITBS soreness but seems to be getting better
Tuesday (4/8): No workout
Wednesday (4/9): Ran 4.1 miles with my morning running group
Thursday (4/10): No workout
Friday (4/11): No workout
Saturday (4/12): Today I ran the Coffin Island 5k on Folly Beach SC. As you know from following my blog I don’t do many 5ks; however, I had friends putting on the event and wanted to support them. I still got it! I ran a 23:30 (7:34 per mile pace), and got 3rd in my age group. I ran the race with my running partner Luke. I will do a race recap post later with more details. After the race, Luke & I ran the course again for extra mileage and to assist in sweeping the course to confirm everyone finished. No issues with the ITBS.
2014 Yearly Running Goal: 900 Miles
Weekly Mileage: 15.29 Miles
Remaining to Goal: 680.36 Miles
You ran an awesome 5K for someone who’s training for a half marathon! Also really nice of you to sweep, I always run in with Clay but you know, I like getting the extra miles in so maybe I should volunteer to be a sweeper at some of the races.
Congrats on your 5K and age group award too, it was fun seeing you and meeting Luke! I thought the race today went really well, Clay and I had a lot of fun. Good luck with Nashville final prep + taper.
Thanks Amy! Yes a great day for the 5k. We all did really well. Congrats on your overall female performance! It was good to finally meet Clay. Nashville is 2 weeks away. Can’t wait to knock out state #6!
