As many of you know, my wife and I foster dogs and cats for local rescues to help find them good homes, and help them avoid the awful other option if they remain in “kill” shelters.
Meet Emma….
Emma is a female Shepherd Mix about 1.5yrs old. She has a medium, stocky build and weighs approximately 50 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, micro chipped, de-wormed and up to date on flea and heartworm medications.
She is crate trained and house-broken. She knows sit, stay, come, and shake and is currently learning to lay down. Emma is very affectionate and enjoys the companionship of people. She is smart, eager to learn and confident.
Emma would be best in a home with an experienced dog owner, as an only dog or with a well-balanced or slightly timid male dog. Any children in the home should be 12yrs or older. She has not been aggressive to any person or child; the concern would be an accidental injury if an animal or female stray dog came into her yard and a younger child was nearby or intervened.
She enjoys walks and is not concerned about passing dogs when on the leash. We are not sure if she swims but she loves to play and lounge in the kiddie pool. Drinking out of the hose is a blast in her opinion!!
Below are comments from our assessment with Michelle Rodriguez, Bark Busters Behavioral Therapist. (The World’s Largest, Most Trusted Dog Training Company)
“Jen and David have put more love, money and attention into her than most people I know would. Unfortunately, she is not a good fit for the resident female dog in the house.
Emma gets along beautifully with the current timid male German Shepherd in the home and I found her to be very tolerant of irritating behavior by the resident female dog. She is so sweet and such a great dog! I really hope someone can help her – she is running out of options and needs the right forever home.
I would be happy to oversee a meeting in the greater Charleston area with a potential male dog to give my expert opinion on a match. Jen can coordinate after a meet and greet with the potential owner has been successful.
To set up a meeting and greet please contact us through the attached flyer.
If you cannot adopt Emma, would you please print out the Emma Flyer and display it in any areas you may have access, to help spread the word. Anything will help. Thanks so much.
