Well I heard some exciting news yesterday at church. Our town, Summerville, SC, is organizing it’s first half marathon, called the “Sweet Tea Half Marathon“. Now if you know me, I love my tea, the sweeter the better. Thus, I am planning to do this inaugural race, on Saturday, November 15, 2014, and hoping the medal is in the shape of a big ‘ole glass of sweet tea! How cool would that be?
Here is the description from their website:
“Enjoy 13.1 miles that begins in the center of town and takes you on to our recreational running path and through some of our lovely neighborhoods ending back in the center of town. While running, you will enjoy live entertainment as well as lively water stations. Hopefully those will be memorable as you will be encouraged to vote for your favorite entertainment and most spirited aid station. Summerville has been recognized as the birthplace of Sweet Tea. With its uniquely small town feel and southern hospitality, Summerville has a lot to offer. This race will benefit a Fire and Police benevolant fund. Please join us for the Inaugural Summerville Sweet Tea Half Marathon this November 15, 2014!”

Cool! Hopefully they serve it on the course, let the sugars give the runners a lift! Ha!
WOW! What a unique race. I’m tempted by this race. I need to cross off South Carolina and this might be the race to do it with.
Yep this is sounding pretty neat…. I hope the medal is in the shape of a glass or pitcher of sweet tea! Let me know if you decide to come. I’m a 50 stater also.
