  1. Thanks for the shout out! I completely understand where you’re coming from. There have been a few runners whose blogs I follow that are feeling the same way. Linzie over at See Sharp Run voiced his displeasure last week along with a few others. While I’m thrilled to have options out here on the West Coast, I do wonder when sales will slow down for runDisney. With races selling out in record times, I understand why they keep doing what they do. I wish I had more than a couple weeks to find the money for the Star Wars races. It seems like runDisney would do good to make marathon week in January their big announcement week. It’s the largest runDisney event and they hold it in January. So, it makes sense to make any additional race announcements then.

    • I just Read See Sharp Run’s post, he did an excellent elaboration on the issues! I also agree that RunDisney should make all current and new race announcements at Marathon Weekend, this would help a lot of us out right there!

  2. When I saw the Avengers Half Marathon debut, I thought it was a neat idea. To be totally honest though, debuting the Star Wars half so close to THAT one kind of took some of the wind out of its sails. Instead of geeking out, I simply thought, “Really? ANOTHER half marathon?” And I didn’t even know it was $195 until I read this post. That’s extortionate. Seriously, I would never pay that much for a half marathon in my life.

I’m glad I ran the 2013 Disney Marathon – it was one of the most fun experiences of my life. But once done with it, I decided I probably wouldn’t run it again. The biggest (and probably only) reason is cost. For a MARATHON I will pay the big bucks, especially for a Disney race. But at the rate the fees are increasing, I will be priced out, which is very disappointing.

The country will soon reach peak half marathon and many for-profit racing companies will have to slim down if they want to stay relevant.
