This week is my second of three weekends where I will be running back to back runs on Saturday on Sunday. This week called for 11 milers each day. This is in prep for my back to back half marathons on May 2-3 next month. I will be doing the OneAmerica 500 Festival Half Marathon in Indianapolis, IN on Saturday and the Cincinnati Flying Pig Half Marathont on Sunday.
Well the weekend did not start out well. My wife and I caught the stomach bug. Trust me I do not wish this on anyone. It helped with weight loss, but I don’t recommend this methodology. I lost 4-5 pounds in about 48 hours! This effected my runs early in the week, causing me to cancel the Tuesday run.
Monday (3/30): No workout – sick with the stomach bug
Tuesday (3/31): No workout – sick with the stomach bug
Wednesday (4/1): I ran 4 miles with my MUSC running group at 5:30 AM at a 8:48 pace.
Thursday (4/2): No Workout
Friday (4/3): No Workout
Saturday (4/4): On Saturday, I ran 11 miles on my own on the Summerville Saw Mill Trail. With it being Easter weekend, many in the group were traveling, so I set out on my own. It went well. I averaged a 9:30 pace, and it was about 64 degrees with a 50% chance of rain (which held off until I got back to my truck).
Sunday (4/5): Happy Resurrection Sunday. What a beautiful sunrise we were able to witness this morning from the bridge! Dan and I got up early this morning and ran 11 miles on the Arthur Ravenel Bridge at 6am so I could make it to church on time. It was a nice cool run at 48 degrees. We averaged a 9:32 pace even with going back and forth over the bridge.
One more dual run weekend in two weeks before my back to back half marathons on May 2 & 3.
