I just found out some awesome news. I am running the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon in Indianapolis on Saturday, May 2nd. This is the largest half marathon in the country with over 35,000 runners.
ok… ok…. the awesome news…. I got Wave 1, Corral C placement. That means I am starting toward the front, and Corral C out A-Z is not too shabby.
This will go well toward my having to get to Cincinnati soon after the race to prepare for the Cincinnati Flying Pig Half Marathon the following day!
What are the start times of each wave?
Wave 1 – 7:48 am
Wave 2 – 8:00 am
Wave 3 – 8:15 am
Wave 4 – 8:30 am
Wave 5 – 8:45 am
How many people are in each wave?
Each wave will feature approximately 6500 participants.
How long will the gap be between each wave?
Each wave will start in 15 minute increments. With an average of approximately 900 – 1000 participants crossing the start line per minute, there will be a 7 to 8 minute gap between the clearing of the previous wave and the start of the next wave.
Nice, speedy kids to the front! Luckily Cincinnati’s only about a 2-hour drive from Indy, so your legs won’t have too much time to tighten up on you. Between races, compression & elevation worked well for me during my Mississippi & Alabama back-to-backs last year… though I’d recommend you go easy on elevating the legs if you’re driving!
Thanks for the feedback Mike. I was going to ask you advice for eating, carb’ing, etc., the week of, & between races.
