In less than three weeks, I will be attempting my first back to back half marathons in two days. This will be my last big training week to prep for the races. On Saturday, May 2nd I will be running in the OneAmerica 500 Festival Half Marathon (Indianapolis, IN), followed by the Cincinnati (OH) Flying Pig Half Marathon on Sunday, May 3rd.
Monday (4/13): I ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym at lunch. I ran at a 7.0 mph 1% incline which equated to an 8:38 pace.
Tuesday (4/14): No workout
Wednesday (4/15): I ran 4 miles with my MUSC running group at 5:30 AM at a 8:31 pace.
Thursday (4/16): No Workout
Friday (4/17): No Workout
Saturday (4/18): On Saturday, I ran 12 miles with Luke & Aaron in downtown Charleston. It was a very scenic run. We ran through the campus of The Citadel around the parade grounds, past the boat show, through Hampton Park, by the SC Aquarium, and through the town. It was amazing we remembered our planned route! The rans held off for us, but it was 68 degrees and humid! We averaged a 9:25 pace.
Sunday (4/19): On Sunday, I did a back to back 12 miles to simulate the races in 2 weeks. I met Dan & Aaron in Mt. Pleasant and we ran through Mt. Pleasant, over the Arthur Ravenel Bridge (to simulate the hills in the CIncinnati race, and down East Bay Street before heading back to Mt. Pleasant. We had a few drizzles on the bridge, but all it all it was a nice weekend of training runs. Today it was yet again 68 degrees and humid. We averaged a 9:41 pace.
That is a wrap on my training for the back to back half marathons on May 2nd & 3rd. Just a few more relaxing taper runs until race day.
