This week I start my intense training for my back to back half marathons coming up in October. In October, I will running the Baltimore, MD Half Marathon (Saturday) and Hershey, PA Half Marathon (Sunday).
Monday (8/24): I ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym at lunch. I averaged a 9:09 pace.
Tuesday (8/25): No workout
Wednesday (8/26): I ran 4 miles with my 5:30 AM MUSC Running Group. We ran at a 9:29 pace, with a minute walk at each mile.
Thursday (8/27): No workout
Friday (8/28): No workout
Saturday (8/29): Saturday’s run took place at the West Ashley Greenway. Luke, Dave, Mike, and I ran 10 miles on the WAG. We ran at a 9:46 pace with a temp of 73 degrees and 89% humidity.
Sunday (8/30): Sunday’s run did not start out the way we planned. Sunday was to be my second 10 miler to simulate back to back training for the halfs in October. My running partner Rachel and I were going to meet at the Summerville Saw Mill Branch Trail at 6:30 am. However, upon waking up, it was raining so hard, I could not see my neighbor’s house. So, I sent Rachel a text to cancel, because she had to drive 30 minutes to come over. Because the forecast was for rain all day (and yes, it did rain all day), she suggested we meet at the MUSC Wellness Center after church and knock it out on the treadmills. Even though we were hesitant, we were able to endure it and I was able to get both my back to back 10 milers in for the weekend. We averaged a 9:54 pace.
