Sorry this is delayed this week, I had both family in town, and a friend that is moving away, so I had to come up with the best words I could muster here. My parents came down to spend the weekend with us. They got to see a fireworks show I did on Friday night. On Saturday, we played tourists and went out and saw the Angel Oak Tree & Charleston Tea Plantation. This is two places we had never visited prior. I highly recommend both if you live here. It is worth it.
This weekend was bittersweet as I said. I was excited my parents got to come down for the weekend; however, it was the last weekend I would get to hang out with my buddy Chris. He and his family are moving back to Baltimore. He wrote a beautiful piece about our friendship on his blog. As you can tell, he is far better at words than I. He started running just 4 months ago, and has improved from barely being able to run to running 8 miles with us on Saturday, and losing over 60 pounds! Chris I am going to miss you pal, but I will see you at the Baltimore Half Marathon in October! You better stay at it up there! I will be checking in on your training, and keeping you accountable from afar!
Monday (8/17): I ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym at lunch. I averaged a 9:09 pace.
Tuesday (8/18): No workout
Wednesday (8/19): I ran 4.1 miles with my 5:30 AM MUSC Running Group. We ran at a 9:52 pace, with a minute walk at each mile.
Thursday (8/20): No workout
Friday (8/21): It’s Fireworks Day! I took the day off from work, because we had a fireworks gig Friday night at Coosaw Creek Country Club. Since I had the morning free, I met my buddy Chris at the Summerville Saw Mill Branch Trail to run 5 miles together. We averaged a 10:47 pace. We did a 1 minute walk break at each mile.
Chris and his family are moving to Baltimore this week.
Saturday (8/22): My parents are in town for the weekend, and because I didn’t get in late from fireworks, my running group came out to Summerville to run the Saw Mill Branch Trail for 8 miles. We had Dan, Elizabeth, Luke, & Chris run this morning. Chris has been doing so awesome. In the 4 months he has been running, he has improved so much. We started about 10 minutes after him, and we never caught him. This was his longest run to date, and he did great. The rest of us averaged a 10 minute pace, with a 1 minute walk break on each mile.

Wait, I am here before Tiny Terror? How is that possible?!?!
^ Ha! I was busy with work :).
It sounds like Chris is doing great, it’s sad that one of your running buddies is moving away though… I am sure he will be fine and also meet some new people there through running (It is the best way to meet people). Looks like you got some good training in this week despite being busy, the heat, and the storms we had.
