Well it is time to close out another year, so let me wish you a Happy New Year in 2016! I was scratching at the door of a 1,000 miles for 2015, so I put in some extra days this week to put me over the top. My previous year high was in 2013 when I hit 1,000.5 miles, so I had to at least top that, which I did.
Monday (12/28): I ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the Wellness Center. Pace average: 9:01
Tuesday (12/29): I ran 4 miles on the treadmill at the Wellness Center. Pace average: 9:01
Wednesday (12/30): I ran with my morning MUSC run group at 5:30a. We ran 4.3 miles at a pace average: 9:55. Well I found a new first in running on this run. In my 5.5 years of running, I had never fallen before (until today). I wiped out scraping up my hands, knee, and chin, biting the inside of my bottom lip, and hyper extending my elbow. Now I can join the club for people who have fallen while running!
Thursday (12/31): No workout
Friday (1/1/16): Happy New Year!!!! No workout
Saturday (1/2): Here’s to my first run on the new year, and first run since wiping out on Wednesday’s run. The group all had various other obligations, so I ran today on my own at The Summerville Saw Mill Branch Trail. I ran 10 miles at a 9:05 pace with walk breaks on the mile. It was a beautiful morning at 50 degrees. I also tried out some new compression socks my parents got me for Christmas. They really seemed to help the soreness in my lower legs!
