It was a great week of training, which ended with the arrival of my new Garmin Forerunner 630 running watch.
As of the end of this week, we will be just two weeks out from the New Orleans Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon.
Monday (2/8): I ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the MUSC Wellness Center at a pace of 8:29.
Tuesday (2/9): I ran 3 miles on the treadmill at the MUSC Wellness Center at a pace of 8:37.
Wednesday (2/10): I ran 4.25 miles with my MUSC running group at 5:30 am. We averaged a 9:17 pace.
Thursday (2/11): No workout
Friday (2/12): No workout
Saturday (2/13): On Saturday, I started with Renee and we ran 3 miles non-stop together. At mile 3 we met up with Dan, Emack, Weston, Sherman, and Luke. Renee continued on as she logged 16 miles. I ran the next 10 miles with the group, doing a tenth of mile walk break on the mile marks. We averaged a 9:30 pace. It was a great run. I was testing out my Nike Free 5.0 shoes to see if I could tolerate them for a half marathon distance before trying them in the New Orleans Half Marathon in two weeks. They worked great, so I am going to give them a shot. They are much lighter than my Brooks Adrenaline shoes.
Here is the data after my first run on the new watch.
The crew for the day. Renee ran ahead of us so she wasn’t available for the picture.
After we got back, Dan bought us all post run chocolate milk for recovery. Emack got a picture of the guys chugging.
2016 Yearly Running Goal: 1000 Miles

Great week! Looks like you are ready for the next half and glad the shoes worked for you. Smart to take then on a long run before the race.
