Welcome to the 5,000 Mile Club! Since starting to run in May 2010, this week my running journal brought something to light, that I would cross the 5,000 miles logged club! I would never have believed in 2010 I would still be doing this thing called running for this long. Thanks to all my readers for running with me and the encouragement along the way!
Monday (7/18): It was Monday Runday at Fleet Feet Summerville at 6:30 PM. We had a get wet night before running 3 miles. Water balloons, water guns, and popsicles! I was able to average an 8:55 pace at 90 degree temps.
Tuesday (7/19): At lunch I ran 4 miles on the treadmill at the gym. Since I am doing the Santa Fe Thunder half in New Mexico in a few months, and it is a mostly all downhill half, I ran at a decline of -3 to start getting my legs adjusted to this difference. I ran at a 8:34 pace.
Wednesday (7/20): I ran with my MUSC Running Group at 5:30 AM for a 4.1 mile run. We averaged a 9:42 pace with walk breaks on each mile marker, temps were 81 degrees, felt like 150 🙂 because there was little to no breeze. At lunch I went over to the gym and swam 1000m.
Thursday (7/21): No workout
Friday (7/22): No workout
Saturday (7/23): On Saturday, I met up with Alyssa, Weston, & Sherman at the Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park to do 9 miles. We ran over the Shem Creek Boardwalk, and discovered that they have increased the branches off the boardwalk to give us more distance out over the water. We then continued on to the Old Village down Pitt Street to the Pitt Street Bridge and back. It was super hot & humid and our pace suffered. We managed the mid-10s per mile for the route. It was all about managing to the end, so pace wasn’t the focus on this day. We still had a great time together. We even got to see Tiny Terror out getting her miles in as well.
