Well I am three weeks out from my next half marathon, the Santa Fe Thunder Half Marathon in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Check out this race elevation profile!
Monday (8/22): No workout
Tuesday (8/23): At lunch I ran 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym. Since I am doing the Santa Fe Thunder Half in New Mexico next month, and it is a mostly all downhill half, I ran at a decline of -3 to start getting my legs adjusted to this difference. I ran at a 8:30 pace.
Wednesday (8/24): I met my MUSC running group at the Wellness Center at 5:30a and ran 4 miles around downtown at a 9:47 pace.
Thursday (8/25): No workout
Friday (8/26): No workout
Saturday (8/27): On Saturday I met up with Bundy, Nick, Emack, & Renee at the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park at 6am for an 11 mile run. Renee ran with us for the first mile on her way to a 16-miler. She is training for the Marine Corp Marathon in October. It was a much better morning weather than we have experienced the last few months. This at least made it tolerable, but still not ideal conditions. We ran it in a little under 2 hours at a 10:20 pace.
Here is a beautiful pano from the Pitt Street Bridge/Pier.
We got a great shot of the sun rising over the Ben Sawyer Connector Bridge.
Before we ended, we made a 3 mile trek around Patriot’s Point & The Yorktown.
Finally, I want to give a shout out to my buddy Chris Darling. He has had an incredible journey of less than 2 years of weight loss and running. Well this morning, he ran his first half marathon, in the Patrick Henry Half Marathon in VA! Congrats buddy, I am so proud of you and your journey! Welcome to the Half Marathon Club! Check out his blog, The Journey of Ascent, of his journey.
