TAPER WEEK… I am now just a week away from my next half marathon, the Santa Fe Thunder Half Marathon in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is going to be an interesting race as you can tell from the profile below. There really isn’t much in the way of opportunities to simulate that elevation profile. But it should be exciting, and can’t wait to check off my 15th state.
Check out this race elevation profile I have to look forward to!
Monday (9/5): No workout
Tuesday (9/6): No workout
Wednesday (9/7): I met my MUSC running group at the Wellness Center at 5:30 AM and ran 4.2 miles around downtown at a 9:33 pace.
Thursday (9/8): No workout
Friday (9/9): No workout
Saturday (9/10): On Saturday I met up with Dan, Luke, Nick, Alyssa, & Kevin in downtown Charleston to run 6 miles. This is such a low mileage for a long run Saturday, but it is taper week. We maintained a 9:57 pace. If you look at our group shot from The Battery, you can see Fort Sumter in the background. It was a good run with lower temps, but with the high humidity it still made it challenging.
2016 Yearly Running Goal: 1000 Miles
Weekly Mileage: 10.23 Miles
2017 Total Miles: 589.00 Miles

GOOD LUCK in Santa Fe David, I’ll be running Omaha at the same time. Look forward to hearing how your quads respond to 11 miles of downhill!
Thanks Mike. Good luck in Omaha as well. Yes not really anywhere in Charleston SC to train for this. We shall see.
