It was race week again for me. At the end of the week, I ran my next half marathon for State #16 in Portland, Oregon on October 9th with the Portland Half Marathon.
However, the race weekend was overshadowed by Hurricane Matthew that was to strike us on Saturday. We were in dire straights because I had already made all the arrangements to run the above race, including flights, lodging, car rentals, etc. We had to decide whether I would go through with it. After much discussion it was decided I would go. This left my wife sticking back to deal with Hurricane Matthew’s attack with our 7 pets. It was brutal for her, and after the fact wished I would not have traveled and left her with all the hurricane dealings. However, I did fly out and ran the race, and accomplished my 16th state and 29th half marathon.
