I am now three weeks away from my next Half Marathon. On January 7, 2017 I will run the Mississippi Blues Half Marathon in Jackson, MS for my 18th state. It is quite hilly, so I am trying to get more treadmill hill repeats in over the coming weeks to get my legs ready.
Here was this past week’s training.
Monday (12/12): No workout
Tuesday (12/13): I ran 4 miles on the treadmill at the gym at lunch. I ran a hill training module at 6.0mph (10 minute pace).
|0 to 1||1%|
|1 to 2||2%|
|2 to 2.5||5%|
|2.5 to 3||2%|
|3 to 3.5||8%|
|3.5 to 4||2%|
Wednesday (12/7): Because it was supposed to rain (100% I might add, which we had NONE), we decided not to do a group run. I still came in to work early and ran 4 miles on the treadmill at the gym.
Thursday (12/8): No workout
Friday (12/9): No workout
Saturday (12/10): On Saturday, my new pastor Tommy joined us for our run. Because he was new to the area, we ran in downtown Charleston, so we could show him some of the historic sites. Mike, Emack, & Weston joined us and we ran 9 miles. We averaged a 9:46 pace.
Later in the evening on Saturday, we held our First Annual Running Group Holiday Party. It was a great night of fun and fellowship. We ate, had a gift exchange, and gave out awards, here forward entitled “The Hammy Awards”.
2016 Yearly Running Goal: 1000 Miles
Weekly Mileage: 17.30 Miles
2016 Total Miles: 791 Miles
