2017 Week 2 Training B-Log

Posted by DoombuggyRunner on January 15, 2017

Well we made it back from Mississippi late on Sunday.  I have to admit I was disappointed that we were not able to run the Mississippi Blues Half Marathon.  However, the Charleston Marathon gave me a great discount since the Mississippi race was cancelled, so I signed up and got in my mileage.  I will recap that race later in the week.

Well, on Friday we received an email from the Mississippi Blues Half Marathon Race Director on how they were going to make it right for cancelling the race.  Now they did not have to do anything.  The waiver clearly says races are a risk and cancellations for weather do not necessitate a refund.  Well the went above and beyond on making it right.  This was the letter I got.

Dear Blues runners,

We were as disappointed as all of you with the cancellation of the 2017 Mississippi Blues Marathon due to the dangerous weather conditions we had in Jackson this past Saturday. We know you were prepared and looking forward to the race, just as we were.

We are happy to let you know we have several race offers for you that we hope you will be excited about:
Rock ‘n’ Roll Free Race Entry Transfer

Our friends at the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Series are offering to transfer your 2017 Mississippi Blues entry to any one of their U.S. Winter/ Spring Marathons or 1/2 Marathons. You can choose from the following race destinations:• New Orleans Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, Sunday February 5

• Washington DC Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, Saturday March 11

• Dallas Half Marathon, Sunday March 19

• San Francisco Half Marathon, Sunday March 26

• Raleigh Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, Sunday April 2

• Nashville Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, Saturday April 29

and….

2018 Mississippi Blues Marathon Discounted Entry

In addition to your free Rock ‘n’ Roll entry, you will also receive a code for a 25% discount on any distance entry for the 2018 Mississippi Blues Marathon when registration opens later this Spring.

and…..

The 2017 Blues Virtual Run

For information on the 2017 Virtual Blues and how to receive or validate your 2017 finisher’s medal and race packet.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we sorted through what we hope is a once-in-lifetime issue. Please make plans to put your training to the test at one of the Rock ‘n’ Roll races this Spring and join us next year in Jackson as we run the Blues “10 Again” in 2018.

Yours truly,

John Noblin
