I have been given the opportunity to raffle off one free entry into the ColorBurst 5k & Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball Game on June 5th, 2016. ColorBurst 5K, producers of colorful running events across America, in conjunction with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are delighted to announce that a newly confirmed ColorBurst 5K run will take place within the grounds of the TicketReturn.com Field on Sunday, June 5th, 2016 at 2:00 PM. This family friendly, 5K fun run will be staged in partnership with the Pelicans and will be held prior to the team’s home game against the Potomac Nationals. Tickets for the ColorBurst 5K Run will also include a June 5th Pelicans game ticket to the game to be held later the same day.

The CB5K experience brings people from all walks of life together in a technicolor burst of energy and excitement; blending color, music and ‘good vibes’ against the backdrop of a 5K fun-run suitable for the entire family. Where this event differs from the traditional 5Ks you may have experienced previously is in the two key elements of fun: amazing music and gallons of gloriously colored paint. At each interval along the course, CB5K crew blast each participant with non-toxic, hypoallergenic, washable, water-based paint from the sidelines.

Aside from this amazing twist on the typical 5K guests will be treated to an interactive pre-party and post-party at the fully branded CB5K stage with DJs, MCs, giveaways and family-focused fun.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will be working alongside Color Burst 5K to donate a portion of the race ticket sale proceeds to the team’s charitable partner Tidelands Health Foundation.

Entry will include a free CB5K t-shirt, a CB5K headband and a personal-sized bottle of CB5K color to use on event day. As part of its commitment to making this run and event a family affair, ColorBurst 5K & the Myrtle Beach Pelicans will offer free entry to all children, ages 2 and under, when accompanied by a registered adult. This is a rain or shine event. Come early for the pre-party, and the run begins at 2:00pm.

No rest for the wicked and no break for the Brazen – the 2015 race season is upon us! RaceRaves is calling on all members of the Brazen family to share their race experiences. And with this call to arms (or legs) comes an added incentive: every event (including at least one Brazen race) reviewed on RaceRaves between January 8 and January 22, 2015 will double as an entry into a random drawing to win one of the following prizes:

Spartan Race and NBC Sports Network are collaborating on a television special which will feature the World Championship and focus on the sport of obstacle racing. This event, the culmination of the 2013 Reebok Spartan Race Series, will take place on September 21-22, 2013, in scenic central Vermont, near Spartan Race HQ in Pittsfield.

Hi everyone and happy June!

After training super hard for the Race for Taylor 10K, I took a few days to run easy before I dive into summer running and training for the heat. Here in Charleston, it gets super hot, humid, and muggy, and living in Surburbia by the Swamp (Rural West Ashley) doesn’t make running any easier. You definitely have to run slower and hydrate, but it builds your lungs for fast times for Fall races.

Speaking of Fall races, I’ve been busy looking at different options for the fall, including marathons, half marathons, 10Ks, and a popular alternative to road races… obstacle races.

I haven’t participated in an obstacle race, but I have a few friends who really love them! A couple years ago, about 20 people from my company participated in the USMC Mud Run and the Palmetto State O-Run (Obstacle Run). I even have…

Thanks for all of you that participated in my first blog contest. The guesses varied greatly. The correct answer to the number of peanut M&Ms in the 24 ounce water bottle (the full size plate in the background was your clue) was 218.

Congratulations to Tara Bell who guessed 217 – only 1 off from the actual count.

Josh Chambers was 2nd place with 193 & John Meadows was over by only 10 with 228! So close!
