Many of you know that I am a licensed pyrotechnician lead operator for the state of South Carolina. With that always comes a busy time of year around July 4th. Here are a few videos from the three shows I did over the holiday. Two were shot under Zambelli Fireworks and the other at my church was my personal shoot. Enjoy!
On August 13, 2016, I had the opportunity to reveal the baby gender for the Grinnell’s via a fireworks show. They actually had the doctor’s office call me instead of them to report the results, so they would all be surprised together in a fireworks show. It was such an awesome event.
Here is a collage of pictures from various friends from our annual July 3rd fireworks show at our church, Northwood Baptist Church, North Charleston, SC.
On July 3, 2015 we did the firework show for my church, Northwood Baptist in North Charleston, SC. I made a previous post with pictures; however, this is the post we have been waiting for. We actually had a guy come out and film our shoot from a drone device. I was able to get the video yesterday, and it is posted below. For some reason, there is a 2:30 gap at the beginning, so the video should start at the 2:30 point. It is a long video at 38 minutes, so enjoy.
On Friday, July 3, 2015, my team and I put on the annual fireworks show at our church, Northwood Baptist, in North Charleston, SC. This show consisted of about 80 500 Gram Cakes, 140 2″ shells, and about 70 2″ comets. Below are some pictures and video from the show. I would like to thank Russ Mahaffey, Crystal McCall, Tommy & Skyler Connor, and other church members for the awesome photos and videos you will see below. We also had a drone flying over our show to record it. When I have that footage, I will make an update to the post to include this view.
As many of you know, I am a licensed pyrotechnician with the state of South Carolina and the ATF. We are in the process of planning many shows that our team will be doing over the holiday weekend next weekend. Here is a list of shows we will be doing if you would like to come out and support us.
As you can see we will be quite busy this holiday weekend. We are so excited our business is starting to flourish. Should you be interested in fireworks for an event, you can contact me via the About Me page here on the site.

This past weekend we traveled down to Walt Disney World for Star Wars Weekend. We go to Disney World often, but had never attended Star Wars Weekend before.
Star Wars Weekend lasts for five weekends from the middle of May to the middle of June. This was the third weekend that we attended. Star Wars Weekend is always in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The park opened at 8:00 am, so we got there about 7:15 am and were back about the ticket windows, so it was not that bad to get in.
Because we got in early, we were able to do the rope drop. This was quite entertaining by two Storm Troopers.
Afterward, we made a mad dash to the Star Wars merchandising, which was special stuff for SWW that you could only get there.
Following the shopping, we had time to kill before the Star Wars Motorcade Parade, so we went and got our Star Wars cupcakes.
The parade was at 11 am; however, people began lining the streets around 9am. So about 9:45 we found us a seat and just rested and waited for the parade. All of the parade pictures are in the album that is linked lower in the post.
After the parade was over, we left the park and went park hopping. We returned about 8pm for the special Star Wars Fireworks Show that happened at 9:30pm. Here is a video from the 2014 show, but it was still quite similar.
All in all it was worth the wait. We enjoyed Star Wars Weekend, but probably will not do it again. It was just already too hot down in Florida. We made a run of no Disney from Memorial Day to Labor Day any longer. But I can now saw we have done Star Wars Weekend and check that one off the bucket list.
There are 2 more weekends if you want to go check it out.
On Saturday, October 25th, we held a fireworks show at the Highland Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. This was done at my firework partner, Mike’s church. The were having a Fall pig picking, and wanted us to do a fireworks show to end the evening. There were about 250 people in attendance for the show.
The show consisted of about 30-40 200 gram cakes, 40-50 500 gram cakes, and 200 2″ or less shells. Because it is Fall, and close to time change, we were able to shoot the show at around 7:30 PM. It was a 20 minute show. Because we were able to shoot earlier in the evening, that made for early clean up, and to get home and to bed at a reasonable hour.
If you have a desire to put on a fireworks show, contact me and we can quote you a price for your desires. My contact information is on the “About Me” page.
As a pyrotechnician I love to watch the Disney fireworks shows for inspiration. Well, Disney has come out with a new show for the summer based on the movie Frozen. It takes place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I hope they continue it through the end of the year, so I can see it Thanksgiving weekend when we are back down there. It looks great, and involves a lot of the characters from the movie.
Here is the first recap of my weekend of pyrotechnics.
I decided to work backwards on my weekend in review, I will recap the other two shows later in the week. As most of you know I am a certified Pyrotechnician. I did three fireworks shows from Friday (4th) to Sunday (6th). The conclusion of it all was the one we do at our church, Northwood Baptist, in North Charleston. This one is exciting for me because I have so many friends, family, and church family that come out to see it and fellowship. A large number of them have posted pictures and videos on social media. Below are some of the photos and videos.
For other pyrotechnicians, this show consisted of 115 consumer (1.4) grade cakes. The cakes were arranged to 11 different songs. Each song had a single visco running through them, connected to fast fuse, and set to go at precise time stamps in the songs. The visco was fired electronically from a firing system.
