Last weekend, as a part of the Hershey Half Marathon, we had the opportunity to tour Hershey’s Chocolate World.
Here we are freezing our backsides off.
Chocolate World is a free venue, outside of Hershey Park. You can go anytime and get your chocolate!
They have so much chocolate.
The key element to Chocolate World is that has a free omin-mover ride that shows how Hershey develops their chocolate.
So here is a video of the tour. It is a cheezy little ride, but quite informative.
Did you enjoy the singing cows?
Here is how Hershey’s Kisses are made.
Here were the production numbers on the day we visited.
Chocolate World also has a food court and very large gift store. Among the other things you can do here.
You can even sign up and pay to invent your own chocolate candy bar.
It was a great visit. It was packed on the day we went, simply for the fact that it was cold and rainy outside. My friend Chris, goes often, and says he had never seen it as crowded as the day we went. So I recommend this if you are in the Hershey area. You should allow about an hour to take it all in.
||Half Marathon State # 12
Half Marathon #22
On Sunday, October 18, 2015, I ran in the Hershey Half Marathon in Pennsylvania. There were approximately 5,000 runners in the half marathon. For me, this was the second leg of a back to back half marathon weekend. I paired this with the Baltimore Half Marathon on Saturday to accomplished two states in one weekend toward my 50 By 50 Challenge.
Since I did the Baltimore race on Saturday, as soon as the race was over and I was cleaned up, my buddy Chris picked me up and we were off to Hershey to get to the expo before it closed at 5:00 PM. We got there a little after 4:00 PM. The expo was at Hershey Park Stadium. There wasn’t much to it, so I did not even take photos. Plus, we were freezing and it was outdoors under the bleachers, so we mainly just flew through and got my stuff and we were out of there.
Now on the way, I needed something to eat so we got the recommendation to go to Bmore Burger Stack, which was on the way. Talk about a hole in the wall, but man they had a awesome burger and fries.
After the expo, we went over to Hershey Chocolate World. I will save that for a later blog post.
For this race, we stayed at the Hampton Inn Hershey which was only about 10 minutes from Hershey Park where the race started and finished. Now, on to the race….
The weather for the race was quite different than Baltimore the day before. Race start weather was around 33 degrees with a 6 mph NW wind and 75% humidity. It was COLD!
On Saturday & Sunday, October 17-18, 2015, I completed the Baltimore Half Marathon in Baltimore, MD and the Hershey Half Marathon in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
This was my 11th & 12th states completed in my 50 By 50 Challenge. I have updated the page with this race’s information.
Here is a link to the Maryland medal page and the Pennsylvania medal page.
I will post the race recaps later this week. Stay tuned.
