On Saturday, I will be running the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon. This will be the first leg of a back to back half marathon with the Cincinnati Flying Pig Half Marathon.
As a racing fan, mainly of Nascar, but also the Indianapolis 500, I am excited to do this race because we get to run miles 6 to 8.5 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In doing so, as you run across the race track Start/Finish line, you can take the opportunity to “Kiss The Bricks” just like the race winners do. I plan to take this opportunity, without regard to my race time! This is a chance I cannot pass up. You will get to see my efforts in the race recaps the week after the race.
||Half Marathon State # 03
Half Marathon #06
On March 24, 2013, I ran the 2nd annual North Carolina Half Marathon at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. This was the 3rd state toward my 50 by 50 Challenge to run a half marathon in all 50 states by the time I am 50.
We went up to the Charlotte area the day before. It is only about a 3 hour drive for us from Charleston. However, a majority of the trip was in a downpour! When we got into Charlotte, we went directly to the Charlotte Motor Speedway to the expo. There was not much to the expo; however, it was in the garage on pit row inside the race track, so as a Nascar fan, this was awesome. Here are a few pictures from the expo and the track.

Here are a couple of pictures of the garage. To think Jeff Gordon probably stood here at some point!
Here is the Expo, not much too it.
Here is the race tech shirt and my race bib
Here is probably the last dry picture you will see for the weekend.
